Some hearing aid manufacturing companies pursue the approach to control the background noise and bring human speech out of the context of the sound in a noisy environment through AI (Artificial Intelligence). Not Oticon.

What are the highlights of Oticon Reveal?

Here is how I would frame the improvements in Oticon Reveal compared to Oticon Intent:

  1. Improved AI performance through Dual AI System: Uses one deep neural network dedicated to speech (Speech AI) and a second network dedicated to preserving contextual environmental sounds (Context AI).

  2. 40 dB reduction of Wind noise, 30 dB improvement compared to Oticon Intent.

  3. Improved 4D Sensor Technology: Tracks your head and body movements to automatically adjust microphone focus in group or one-on-one settings.

  4. Improved streaming range and stability. Backwards and forward connectivity: Includes telecoil, Bluetooth LE Audio, Auracast, and hands-free calling for compatible devices.

  5. CROS and biCROS: Released a CROS transmitter that works with Oticon Reveal and Oticon Intent.

Oticon Reveal

Oticon Reveal is the latest hearing aid technology platform by Oticon. It is in line with Oticon's overall philosophy of allowing the wearer to hear everything and let the brain choose what it wants to hear naturally (or Brain Hearing as Oticon coined it).

Brain hearing sound philosophy used in Oticon hearing aids - HearingNow reviews

Brain hearing philosophy in Oticon hearing aids

Oticon Reveal is the first hearing aid by Oticon that has two processors on board. Oticon Reveal now has a Speech AI processor and a Context AI processor. Each has the duty of detecting and refining the part of the sound scene which, in Oticon's sound processing philosophy, are equally important.

The Speech AI processor can focus on the speech detected in front focus, a wide or around mode. This way, the wearer has good control of how and where the Speech AI should pick up and improve the speech signal.

A new Wind and handling Stabiliser 2.0 ensures that a clean enough signal is fed into the two AI processors. This algorithm can now reduce the wind noise by 40 dB, which is 10 dB more than its predecessor, Oticon Intent.

Oticon Reveal retains the 4D spatial sound sensitivity that allows the technology to detect the head and body movement of the wearer and use the information in the speech and sound that the wearer intends to hear better. When the wearer's head is focused for a certain period of time, the hearing aid automatically attends to the speaker in front of the wearer. In a situation where the wearer is in a conversation with several people, e,g, a group chat at a party, when s/he is moving her/his head to the left and right in a relatively short span of time, the hearing aid widens the angle and tries to collect the speech information from a wider angle.

Reveal Optimiser is another new feature of the Oticon Reveal, which is designed to prevent feedback and allow a higher gain, especially at the high frequencies. The Reveal Optimiser is 30% faster and X4 more precise and provides 4 dB more gain than the feedback management algorithms used in earlier generations.

Are Oticon Reveal hearing aids bigger than Oticon Intent?

Oticon Reveal is the same size and shape as Oticon Intent miniRITE R hearing aids, so from an optics point of view they are identical.

What is the battery life of Oticon Reveal?

Oticon Reveal only requires 2 hours charge to give you 22 hours of run time. The same released desktop and portable power pack Smart Chargers can be used for Oticon Intent and Oticon Reveal.

How does connectivity and streaming in Oticon Reveal compare to Oticon Intent?

What I like about Oticon Reveal is the 32% increase in streaming range and 53% streaming stability compared to Oticon Intent. Poor streaming stability and range have been among the feedback I received from the patients in my clinic.

Same as other hearing aids, now Oticon Reveal allows the audiologist to reduce the surrounding sound by 10 dB when the wearer is streaming through the hearing aids. That was also much overdue in Oticon hearing aids. In conjunction with Auracast and T-coil, I am very pleased to see Oticon has improved the streaming and Bluetooth of the hearing aids in Oticon Reveal. Such backward and forward connectivity in hearing aids is only available in Oticon Reveal and Signia Pure MaX (as of the date of this article in August 2026)

Does Oticon Reveal come in CROS or biCROS systems?

Yes, and that is also one of the much-needed features which was missing from Oticon Intent. Now you can have Oticon CROS transmitted to go in an identical form factor.

The good news is that this new CROS transmitter can also work with Oticon Intent. So if you have single-sided deafness and you already have Oticon Intent and you didnt consider a CROS for it, now you can buy an Oticon CROS transmitter and viola!

What groups of patients should consider Oticon Reveal?

As emphasised before, I strongly suggest trying your top candidates in a local clinic before you make a decision about what brand and model of hearing aids you wish to purchase. I believe that Oticon Reveal should be in your top 3 options if you are in the market for cutting-edge hearing aids and you fall into one of the following groups.

  1. Speech in noise - Oticon Reveal is certainly one of the best hearing aids for speech in noise situations, either in one-to-one or group conversations. If your work and/or social lifestyle suggests you have conversations in the presence of background noise, then you should try Oticon Reveal to see how it stands against other leading hearing aids for speech in noise such as Phonak EON Sphere.

  2. Moderate to severe high frequency hearing loss - Oticon has a proven track record for its overall frequency response in high frequency loss. With better feedback management in Oticon Reveal, you certainly should consider Oticon Reveal if your hearing loss is moderate to severe high frequency hearing loss. You might want to consider micromoulds instead of silicon domes in such scenarios (here is why).

  3. Outdoor lovers - If you do a lot of outdoor activity and wind noise is one of your biggest burdens in communication, then the improved wind noise management in Oticon Reveal should be taken seriously. Such individual can be a golf player, a bike runner, or any work duty that exposes you to outdoor activities. (Also in this article: The best hearing aids for golf lovers).

  4. Connectivity - If you use telecoil regularly and you wish to buy hearing aids with telecoil that also have Auracast, then Oticon Reveal stands out. Now you can double-tap on your Oticon Reveal to pick up the call and terminate it.

What technology levels is Oticon Reveal available in?

Oticon Reveal hearing aids come in 4 technology levels:

  • Reveal 1 (Premium): The flagship tier featuring the maximum automation, full 4D sensor spatial mapping, maximum fitting bands, and complete Dual AI coordination for complex, dynamic listening environments.

  • Reveal 2 (Advanced): A high-end option offering exceptional vocal clarity and balanced ambient sound, designed for moderately active social lifestyles with slightly fewer fine-tuning bands than Level.

  • .Reveal 3 (Mid-range): Provides a balanced ratio of features and price, built well for ordinary, everyday listening environments and routine conversations.

  • Reveal 4 (Entry-level): An essential model best suited for simpler, quieter listening environments with minimal background noise.

What technology level of Oticon Reveal is right for me?

The technology level of hearing aids directly determines their processing power, especially when it comes to speech understanding in the presence of background noise. Besides your budget, I would suggest considering the following factors when choosing the technology level of Oticon Reveal hearing aids:

  1. Speech intelligibility: How well is speech brought to the foreground in complex environments?

  2. Noise reduction: How well does the device filter out noise — such as clattering dishes — while keeping speech clear?

  3. Spatial hearing: How precisely can you tell which direction a voice is coming from?

  4. Sound quality in music or complex situations: How natural does the environment sound when things get loud?

Should I upgrade from Oticon Intent to Oticon Reveal?

I will report back and update this article as soon as I have a chance to try Oticon Reveal hearing aids myself and collect enough feedback from my patients. However, from the information shared so far, I do not see a strong reason for those with Oticon Intent to upgrade to Oticon Reveal. To me, Oticon Reveal is a natural progression or a refinement to Oticon Intent, versus a major technology advancement.

Having said that, if you own Oticon Opn or Oticon More and think of upgrading your hearing aids, then the timing might be right, as usually the manufacturers only release new products every 2 years or so; hence, the Oticon Reveal is and will be the latest Oticon technology up until 2028.

Are there new accessories for Oticon Reveal?

One area where Oticon is falling behind Phonak is the range of accessories for Oticon hearing aids. Also, all the legacy accessories work with Oticon Reveal; there is no new accessory for Oticon hearing aids.

What colours do Oticon Reveal hearing aids come in?

The Oticon Reveal hearing aids are available in the following 9 colours:

Silver, Silver Grey, Steel Grey, Diamond Black, Chestnut Brown, Terracotta, Rose Gold, Chalky Sand, Plum.
