In my practice, I see two groups of patients looking for invisible hearing aids. The first group is the patients who have decided to try hearing aids for the first time. Vanity is at the top of their list, so they look for invisible hearing aids. The second group of patients is those who are looking for a second pair for special events (yes, vanity again), and those with an active lifestyle in which retaining the hearing aids in the ear is important.
While RIC (receiver in the canal) models of hearing aids account for the majority of hearing aid sales, in-the-ear hearing aids, including IIC, CIC and ITC hearing aids, account for about 15% of the sales. This is based on our sales in HearingNow and also talking to colleagues in other clinics. Nevertheless, the IIC and CIC hearing aids are classics. They are always popular, and there is a steady demand for them. I think that is why Signia and Rexton made the effort to transform their famous rechargeable CIC model into an even better product. This article is a brief introduction of Rexton Reach Custom CIC, which is a twin sister to Signia Insio Charge and GO IX Custom CIC, for which I have already published a full review a few months ago (please see the product review here).

Suitable for mild to severe hearing loss - Covers a bigger range compared to Signia Silk IX and Rexton Reach inoX CIC
Better wind-noise control (compared to RIC and BTE hearing aids)
CROS and biCROS setting - You can have a unit of Rexton Reach Custom CIC on the better ear and a Rexton Reach inoX CIC CROS transmitted on the deaf side. The Rexton Reach CIC on the better ear will be custom-made, while the Rexton Reach CIC CROS transmitter will be fitted with an easy-fit sleeve or a custom-made micromould. This setting can cover mild to severe hearing loss for a CROS and biCROS hearing loss, and places Rexton Reach Custom CIC beside Signia Insio Charge and Go IX CIC as the only rechargeable custom-made CIC hearing aids in the market with CROS and biCROS settings.

What are the differences between Rexton Reach inoX CIC and Rexton Reach Custom CIC?
There are limited but important differences between Rexton Reach inoX CIC and Rexton Reach Custom CIC. The key differences are:
Custom-made - The Rexton Reach Custom CIC is custom-made. It means that I will take ear impressions from your ear canals, send them to the Rexton lab, and the electronics will be installed in the shell that is exactly the shape of your ear canal. This offers superior comfort and retention compared to Rexton Reach inoX that is fitted with Connexx sleeves.
Power range - The Rexton Reach Custom CIC can offer more power, hence it can cover mild to moderate to severe hearing loss. The Rexton Reach inoX CIC is suitable for mild to moderate hearing loss. This is a massive difference as a wider range of patients can take the benefit of the Reach technology up to severe level hearing loss.
Technology levels - The Rexton Reach Custom comes in 80, 60 and 40 technology levels, while the Rexton Reach inoX Ces comes in 5 technology levels. This way, the inoX easyfit model will be a better option for those on a tight budget, or looking for a second pair of invisible hearing aids.
