Yes, this article is about the only rechargeable CIC hearing aid, and the only Bluetooth CIC in the world. What do they have in common? They both hold the Starkey Edge chipset. Continue reading to learn more about these unique Starkey CIC hearing aids.

What is the Starkey Signature range of hearing aids?
Starkey Signature hearing aids consist of 3 models:
Starkey Signature IIC - This hearing aid takes a size 10 battery
Starkey Signature CIC - This model takes a size 10 battery
Starkey Signature CIC R - This CIC hearing aid is rechargeable
I call Starkey Signature hearing aids classic. Classic in a way that they do not have wireless capability. This is wanted by and satisfies those users who have concerns about radiation from wireless and Bluetooth devices. I understand that science is yet to prove or dismiss the impact of Bluetooth and the wireless radiation from our mobile phones on our brains, but when and if such an impact is identified, it will be too late, as the damage is already done. So I appreciate those patients who do not want any wireless hearing aid close to their brain.
What are the differences between Starkey Edge CIC WL and Starkey Signature CIC NW?
Starkey offers two CIC lines of hearing aids. They are both completely-in-canal CIC and both use the Edge S1 chipset, but with some minor differences:
Starkey Edge AI CIC WL - This model CIC hearing aid takes a 312 battery and uses ASHA Bluetooth. That means you can stream music through this CIC hearing aid and answer phone calls. Also, your audiologist will be able to adjust the settings of the aid through remote telecare.
Starkey Edge Signature CIC NW - This model CIC hearing aid does not have Bluetooth, but it can come in rechargeable or powered by a size 10 battery.
Is Starkey Signature CIC R bigger than Starkey Signature CIC?
Yes, the rule of thumb is that the rechargeable hearing aids are a tad bigger than their equivalent design when on a disposable battery. The reason is simply that the size of the rechargeable battery to power the aid needs to be bigger, so the faceplate of Starkey Signature CIC R is a bit bigger than the one in Starkey Signature CIC. If you want the smallest in-the-canal hearing aid, my advice is to consider Starkey Signature IIC.
How is the battery life of Starkey Signature CIC R?
It takes 3-5 hours for your Starkey Signature CIC R hearing aids to fully charge, then they offer you an impressive 38 hours of run time. Impressive, isn't it?
What are the differences between Starkey Signature CIC and Starkey Signature IIC?
They both are battery-powered, they both use the same Starkey S1 Edge chipset, but the Starkey Signature CIC has a push button. The push button in Starkey Signature CIC allows the user to volume up or down or change programs, or use the button to activate the Edge mode.
How do Starkey Signature IIC and CIC sound in noisy environments?
I have not tested them myself. However, I have fitted both Starkey IIC and Starkey CIC hearing aids for several patients. They are happy with the sound of the in-the-canal aids from Starkey overall. I need to let you know that any type of IIC or CIC hearing aid may be at a lower grade in terms of noise control compared to the latest RIC counterparts. So you need to manage your expectations. The other factor is simply the profile of your hearing loss and the size of the vent in your IIC and CIC, as the noise can travel through the vent anyway.
